    Winner
    Gene Farina, owner, Kitchens 2000
As a cabinet dealer, most of Gene Farina’s homeowner clients work with remodelers. That means Farina does few installations, but his tools don’t just sit around. “If my customers need attention after a job is installed, I’m happy to go out and make adjustments,” he says. “During my last project, I had a bunch of tools lying around. The bucket was handy and that’s what I’ve been using since then!”

    Runner Up
    David Hamtil, co-owner, Hamtil Construction
“It’s been like this for years, but I refuse to get rid of it because I love the layout of the trays.”

“This is my everyday toolbox. Needs some help!”

Whether you’re shoving it, standing on it, overfilling it, or heaving it into the back of your truck, your toolbox gets as good a workout on the jobsite as you and the tools it carries. The toughest boxes will survive the rough stuff, but everything wears down eventually.

Recognizing this, REMODELING hosted a contest on its Facebook page inviting remodelers to send in photos of their beat-up toolboxes with the chance to win a new one from DeWalt. Much to our surprise, many remodelers aren’t using toolboxes at all, but buckets and cardboard boxes!

The contest winner and runners up are shared here, plus a few sturdier options that are up for a jobsite challenge, including the grand prize DeWalt 24-Inch Tote with Power Tool Case.
