To kick off National Remodeling Month in May, Waller Construction of Lakeland, Fla., held a Vendor Appreciation Day barbeque for its subcontractors, suppliers, and a few close clients.
“It's all about relationships,” says Jimmy Waller, vice president of development of the 43-year-old company that's been in his family for three generations. “We wanted to say ‘Thank you for being a vendor of ours. You're an important part of our team and an important part of our presentation. We don't take you for granted.'”
About 60 vendors and 15 clients attended the barbeque, which was sponsored by several local companies.
The gathering also served as a way to get leads. “We've been remodeling since 1961, but a lot of people didn't realize we purchased a roofing company eight years ago,” Waller says. “Some who know us only through roofing don't realize we have a full-service remodeling company.”
Waller got great feedback and says they're going to try to make it an annual event.
