Q: My business is stagnant; I don't have a plan; I'm out of juice. What's the solution?

A: Leaders set the tone for their business. When a leader loses passion, his business does, too. Often this happens because he has lost focus on what he really wants. Without focused, written plans, leaders become worn-out micromanagers. Through engaging in targeted tasks you'll get big results. Here's how to do it:

  • Be 100% clear about what you want and don't want. Want to grow your business? Really want to grow it. Want to dine with your family every night? Really want it. When you really want something, there isn't much to keep you from getting it. Your passion and your excitement push you toward the goal. If you operate on automatic, going from crisis to crisis without direction, commitment and fun are lost.

  • Write down your plan, otherwise circumstances will always sabotage intentions.

  • Be unstoppable in your commitment to yourself and your business. Do what you say you'll do, no matter what. It means letting go, too: Oftentimes you're committed to acting in a direction without knowing how you'll ultimately get there.
