When they first started out, Daniel and Amelia Glickman asked, “How do you distinguish quality and how do you measure it?’” The answer, they discovered, is green building. “It attempts to look for standards in quality and performance,” says Daniel, who has a degree in IT management and consulting and a masters in environmental science.
Now, sustainability is the default. “As long as it doesn’t impact quality or pricing, we opt for green and local,” Daniel says.
The Glickmans — Amelia also has a management background but went back to school for design — have developed “a knowledge-based company,” throwing themselves into research and living their values. “We research products, ask for documentation, and do everything from design through warranty and maintenance,” Daniel says.
