Robert Connolly entered the remodeling business, switched to rehabbing properties for rental, and then came back to doing roofing, decks, additions, and kitchens.
It was after teaming up with engineer Guy Jacquet that his Con-Lyn Home Improvements found its calling in solar. The biggest challenge, Connolly says, was “finding out where we could get educated.” Today 70% of the company’s business comes from solar installations. Con-Lyn helps clients get local, state, utility, and federal tax credits and rebates.
What Con-Lyn can offer that the big national solar installers don’t is construction expertise, including an on-staff master electrician.
“We handle everything, including roofing, electrical, and structural reinforcement,” Connolly says. “A lot of solar installations require structural engineering, especially having to do with wind-load issues.”
The company aims to install solar so well that its solar customers come back again and again for every remodeling project.
