When Randy (right) and Rick (left) Ruzanski were in high school, their parents sometimes called a plumber or electrician out to the house, where tradesmen discovered the twins watching whatever type of repair work they might be doing. Rick and Randy initially took to remodeling as a way to supplement the income from their yard-care accounts.
The brothers joined forces again after graduating from high school, parlaying what began as a pocket-money venture into Distictive Home Improvements, a suburban-Chicago remodeling company that's moved from small stuff such as putting on screen doors to additions and whole-house remodels. Consistently delivering beyond the client expectations has become the company protocol and reated a reputation for quality and dependability that's boosted sales year after year.
